The 6-Week Beginning Intensive is an exciting opportunity to put together the fundamentals of a solid acting technique with a step-by-step approach to scene study
 |
| Rehearsal of a studio production of Chekhov's The Seagull. |
|
Through a series of structured exercises the actor develops relaxation, concentration and imagination as well as an open, honest approach to listening and responding. Fully realized improvisations are incorporated in which the actor experiences living under a specific set of circumstances including environment, inner life, relationship, objectives, and obstacles.
Scenes are carefully selected that both suit and challenge the actor. Exercises are incorporated into the scene work and demonstrate their practical use in developing the text. With guidance from the instructor the student continues to refine the scene incorporating a physical and psychological approach to the character without losing the truthful moment-to-moment reality.
The intensive concludes when students perform their scenes in our theatre for an invited audience. The addition of an audience enables the actor to experience the culmination of the process in performance.
Upon completion of the course, the actor’s progress is reviewed and recommendations are made for further study at the Studio.
